Sunday. Glen Brittle.
Our day off!! Just a well as we had horizontal rain and gale-force winds all day. Fortunately we were able to sit and read our books and watch the waves breaking on the shore.

Friday. On Skye
Friday. At Mallaig.
"Speed bonny boat etc etc "
We are on the harbour at Mallaig waiting for the Skye ferry. It is very windy but the sun is shining on Skye.

Thursday. Nr Mallaig
A grey, overcast day with rain in the afternoon. We walked across the Silver Sands of Morar to Morar Nd had lunch under a tree looking across Loch Morar. There was a glorious sunset last night.

For all you ornithologists out there - this fellow was around the site regularly. A yellow wagtail - not meant to be here according to the book!

Wednesday. Nr Mallaig
"the best laid plans 'o mice and men...." (squeak squeak).

Our road was closed so we had to wait two hours for a chance to drive through. But we had coffee and lunch and met a nice young couple in a motorhome from Neath.
Then on to look round Mallaig before heading to our site followed by a walk along the silver beaches.

Tuesday. At Ardnamurchan.
Weather back to normal i.e. glorious sunshine. A walk along the beach and cliff to see what was around the headland - just more wonderful scenery. Then a short (14 miles) cycle ride out to Ardnamurchan Point and lighthouse. Lunch overlooking the sea with distant views of the Hebrides. Then back for tea!

Monday. At Ardnamurchan.
Sunday night. At Ardnamurchan.
Blasted cuckoos!!! It is 10.10 at night and there us a cuckoo calling from the hill behind the site. We have been hearing them for days now - we heard eight different cuckoos calling throughout yesterday's travels. And now this one doesn't know the sun has gone down. Too dark for a photo!! But we did get shots yesterday. And today we saw our first eagle - flying high over the site.
Sunday. At Ardnamurchan.
Another glorious day - though we did have our first rain. All gone now. We drove from Barcaldine to Fort William where we parked in a car park specially for Motorhomes. Shopping at Morrisons. Gorgeous views of Ben Nevis. Then the long way round to the Ardnamurchan peninsula via Strontian. Our pitch overlooks the sea around Mull.

Saturday. Barcaldine
A day out with Walter. We were collected from the site with our bikes and taken on a tour. We went up through Appin to Glen Coe (I'm not sure why an athlete has a Glen named after him - perhaps it is because of the olympics.) Then we were dropped off at the top of Glen Etive and cycled down to Loch Etive - 13 miles downhill. Walter was waiting at the bottom and drove us all the way back up then round and down Glen Orchy. Then all the way down Glen Lonan and back to the site through Connel. Tonight we are taking Walter out for a meal again (last night we took him to the Creagan Inn) and we are meeting up with Winnie too - we are dining at the Hawthorn near Tralee Beach.

Friday. At Barcaldine.
Having trouble remembering what day of the week it is! Also having IT difficulties-getting photos from devices to iPad for blogging!
We cycled today - 18 miles. Up Glen Salach (Arthur's spring was dry) then down to Ardchattan Priory, past Achnaba, across the moss to Benderloch and back along the road to Barcaldine.

A wonderful journey over a foggy Rest and Be Thankful then down past Tessa's Bee-utiful castle. Then along the loch side to Taynult. I saw Connel Bridge first so I got the £10 (inflation!). A shopping trip to Oban (fish and chips on the sea front) then through Bennderloch (stopping off at the garage shop) to the site. We met up with Walter in the evening and he took us to The Creagan arms for a drink then a whistle stop sightseeing tour - including deer at Castle Stalker.
Second day at Luss.
A wonderful sunny day. We cycled to Tarbet (18 mile round trip) along the side of Loch Lomond. Most of the the cycle track is on the old road -very scenic. In the afternoon a short walk up Glen Luss.
The journey begins.
Our first stop is at the C&C club site on the shore of the loch. A walk round the village and along the riverside then up around a slate quarry.

Location:Luss on Loch Lomond.
