Monday. Glen More.

Our last day. We drove up to the base station of the Cairn Gorm funicular.

Then took a ride up and a guided walk to the top. Then a ride down.

Now we have parked up in an isolated wood with a rushing river beside us. Lunch and then a relax.

Monday. Top of Ben Gorm.

Sunday. Glen More.

We have spent the day at the RSPB centre on Loch Garten. We watched the ospreys and their three chicks - it is so hot the heat haze made photography nearly impossible - just some blurry images. Who would have thought heat haze would be a problem in Scotland. A pleasant walk around Loch Garten watching crested tits.

Saturday. Glen More, Aviemore

Awesome.

We headed North from Clachtoll before we turned South and we came across this stunning scene. Loch Stack with Arkle in the background.
Now we are settled in to the site which is very, very busy.

Friday. Clachtoll.

Hot. Hot. Hot. We have wandered around trying to find cool places to sit. And soak up the scenery and the sun.

Here is a nice lump of gneiss - (sorry, geology joke. )

Tomorrow we turn South.

Thursday. Clachtoll.

What a day - our hottest yet. A lazy day. Just exploring around the coast. Lots of waders - our first redshanks. Lots of geology - a meteor impact crater that is under the sea so not much of it to see. And lots of scenery.

And greater spotted chickens to feed....

Wednesday. Clachtoll.

I was in the middle of preparing the blog when dolphins were spotted in the bay. Here are images captured from the screen of the Canon.

Wednesday. Clachtoll site

Another sweltering day - we are thinking of going somewhere colder next time, like Spain.
We called in at Corrieshalloch Gorge ( very scary )

and had a good explore of Knockan Crag ( a geological Mecca ).

And then we arrived at the site.

Lovely. Right on the edge of the beach looking at the sea.

Tuesday. Inverewe.

A whole day spent walking around Inverewe garden - including a two hour guided walk with a knowledgeable gardener. (not me!!)

We are also eating traditional Scottish food when we can .......

Monday. Inverewe site.

A wonderful drive all round the Applecross headland and up through Glen Torridon.

Along Lock Marie to Gairloch and Poolewe where our site is - just down the road from the Inverewe Gardens.

Another lovely site just across the road from the beach where we have just spent half an hour watching an otter feeding.

Sunday. Applecross.

A day of rest - not! We walked in the grounds of Applecross House. Along the river, up through the woods and back through the arboretum; and we called in to see the walled garden too. Then lunch on the beach and back to sit in our chairs at the site.

Saturday. Applecross.

A fine day but a cold wind. We cycled around the area - down the coast for six miles calling in at all the little harbours then up the coast to see about a walk for tomorrow.

Now the wind has dropped and it is positively tropical - I have even taken my jumper off!!

Friday. Applecross site.

We survived the pass and are safely at the site. Quite large and quite busy. Two sports car groups are here - the BMW sports car club (8 shiny cars) and the MX-5 owners club - two of them hiding in their tents so the BMW guys don't point and laugh.
Fine weather but there was snow up top.

Happy Birthday James on the 19th.

Friday. Pass of the Cattle.

We left Skye this morning by the Skye Bridge.

Then we went to Plockton for a trip down Kate's memory lane. (we were not able to meet Julia (Kate's second cousin) but we did talk on the phone).

Now we are drinking coffee on top of the world - at the top of The Pass of the Cattle (google it!). With snow on the ground!

Now we just have to get down to Applecross.

Thursday. Borve, Skye

Back to Dunvegan where we found Jann's Cake Shop. Disgustingly rich chocolatey cakes - irresistible. Then a drive out to Neist Point -the most westerly point on Skye.

Wednesday. Borve, Skye

A drive through Dunvegan (bleak looking castle) then on to the coral beaches and a really interesting souterrain ( iron age underground safe room) - no really, it was very interesting!

And by the way - we asked if we could move our pitch to the front row on the shore and now we look straight out over the loch.

Tuesday. Borve, Skye.

A short walk along the coast in bright sunshine - sat in the 'home drinking coffee while it rained. Then a long walk along the headland. Lunch sat on an iron age broch. Then back to the van again in time to miss the rain. Perfect timing.

Now we are heading back to the site and out if signal.

Tuesday. Borve, Skye.

Mixed weather - sunshine and showers. We are out on the Waternish headland taking short walks out from RosieMay.

Monday. Borve, Skye

A scenic drive via Portree and the Trotternish Penninsula. We saw a spectacular waterfall with basalt columns in the background.
