Saturday Playa Joyel

The Spanish way of life is already taking hold. One of us was still asleep at 8.15 a.m., unheard of state of affairs. Bright sunshine lured us out, eventually, with a packed lunch, for a bicycle ride along the coast and around a wetland reserve. Himself navigated superbly, referring to screen shots from the google map, very helpful when we were passing through avenues of shuttered apartments in an area of 'urbanisazion'. Moving on, we biked alongside the seashore for quite some way. We photographed the remains of a hermitage last used in the 17th century. The sun was shining all day and Himself revealed his lower extremities, an unusual occurrence, with no ill effects.
Plenty of people were taking the opportunity to stride out along the sand, from one end of the long beach to the other then back again. Nobody was sitting or swimming or paddling and we thought, what a healthy lot, all walking for their health. Some went beyond the beach to the coastal footpath which looked inviting, but not on bikes.
We had our picnic lunch in a park next to the sea which was very windy and the wind was cold, so we soon biked on back to the site. The only stop was to stock up on fruit and salads, the shop on the site being now a bit thin on that front.
We read and rested till it was time for another walk, to the shop to get beer and then out along the sand towards the Birthday Mill, now not quite so well wrapped since the wind had carried off most of the enormous white sheet that covered it yesterday.
Bird of the day: serin; these little yellow birds seem to be plentiful now we have our eye in. If you don't believe there is such a bird, try the RSPB website.
In Spanish fashion we are not dining till mid evening. Whether this will be pre- or post-blogging (which has to be done in a special room), remains to be seen.
